Thumbs up…to the federal government for committing to provide additional financial support to enhance access to dental care. Phase-one of this plan includes a yearly $650 benefit for households earning less than $90,000 to help pay for dental visits by children under 12.

Thumbs up…to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission for launching a new emergency crisis number. Starting at the end of 2023, Canadians will be able to call 988 to be connected to immediate mental health or suicide prevention support.

Thumbs down…to Canada Post who destroyed Scott Dawson’s mother’s ashes in a vehicle fire almost two months after he sent them to British Columbia to be buried. The federal agency only offered to refund him the $40 in shipping fees, leaving the family unable to receive closure.
