Schizophrenia treatment
The Mental Health Commission of Canada and the Ontario Shores are working on a new demonstration project. The goal is to improve outcomes to advance treatment, strengthen care delivery and training to implement the standards based on individual needs. Four sites across the country will receive a national toolkit and education to ensure equitable access and reduce variability.

Prosthetic braille
The research team from the University of Cambridge used machine learning algorithms to teach a robotic sensor to quickly slide over lines of braille text. The robot was able to read the braille at 315 words per minute with close to 90 per cent accuracy. In future, the research team are hoping to scale the technology to the size of a humanoid or skin.

Stronger bones
Contrary to decades of advice, older women should be doing harder exercises to protect their bones. A study in Australia by Belinda Beck at Griffith University has found heavier exercises help strengthen our bones. When we lift heavy weights our bones bend, which causes our bodies to build more bone and reinforce our body structure.
