Dr. Thanh Dang-Vu and Dr. Andrew Lim Lead the Sleep Revolution for Cognitive Health
In a world where sleep has often taken a back seat, Dr. Thanh Dang-Vu and Dr. Andrew Lim are pioneering a sleep revolution, proving that a good night’s sleep isn’t just a luxury but a necessity for a healthy mind, regardless of age.
Dr. Thanh Dang-Vu is a distinguished neurologist, professor, and researcher who has established himself as a leading figure in the field of sleep medicine and neurology. His commitment to advancing our understanding of sleep disorders and their implications for cognition is evident in his roles as Vice President (Research) at the Canadian Sleep Society, Associate Director of Clinical Research at the Geriatric University Institute of Montreal, and as an esteemed member of the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Investigators. He is also an Associate Professor at the University of Montreal and a Full Professor and Research Chair at Concordia University.
Joining the effort is Dr. Andrew Lim, a sleep neurologist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. As the principal investigator of the Ontario Sleep Health Study and co-PI of the Canadian Consortium on Neurodegeneration in Aging Sleep Team, Dr. Lim’s work provides crucial insights into the role of sleep in the aging population. His research highlights the two-way street between sleep, circadian disruption, and the presence of neurodegenerative disorders.
Recently, Dr. Dang-Vu and Dr. Lim collaborated in a joint presentation at a Knowledge Translation and Exchange (KTE) Webinar. Their focus? Unpacking the links between sleep, cognitive health, and the onset of neurodegenerative diseases, especially in older adults.
Together, their efforts go beyond just pushing the boundaries of scientific knowledge. They are also paving the way for innovative clinical solutions. Their interventions offer hope for a society that is ‘waking up’ to the vital role of sleep in overall well-being.
It’s not just science; it’s a pathway to a healthier tomorrow.
